How to reduce photo file size

  1. Choose photos

Select JPG, PNG or WebP photos. You can apply the same settings to a batch.

  2. Set quality or a size target

Adjust quality for JPG or WebP. Enable a target in KB for a file-size limit. The quality value does not directly control PNG encoding.

  3. Check the actual result and save

Compare the photos and measured file sizes. Over-target results are flagged and excluded from the batch ZIP; you can save them individually.

1KB means 1,000 bytes. A target size may not be reachable for every image and format. Input and output are limited to 8,192px per side and 25 megapixels.

Before you save

Can I reduce file size without changing width and height?+

Keep resizing set to original dimensions, then adjust JPG or WebP quality or set a target size. Dimensions can stay the same while visible detail changes. Leave additional downscaling off when the pixel dimensions must be preserved.

Why can a PNG grow or ignore the quality setting?+

PNG output does not use the lossy quality value, and re-encoding can produce a larger file. If transparency matters, consider PNG or WebP with suitable dimensions. For photographs without transparency, compare JPG and WebP results.

What should I do when a result exceeds my target KB value?+

A missed-target warning means the output is above the limit. Compare allowed formats and quality settings, or allow additional downscaling when smaller dimensions are acceptable. Exact-dimensions mode keeps the requested width and height and does not downscale them further.

Why are some selected photos missing from the ZIP?+

Failed files and outputs that miss the target size are excluded from the ZIP. Check each file’s status in the result list. An explicitly labelled individual download can save an over-target output, but it still does not meet the target.

What happens to my original and camera metadata?+

The original is not modified. Your browser creates a new file without uploading the selected photo or copying original EXIF. Names, faces and document content visible in the picture remain visible.
